The Cleveland Orchestra and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra on DVD

In cooperation with Concorde Home Entertainment and Belvedere, Clasart Classic releases The Cleveland Orchestra’s Brahms Cycle, conducted by Franz Welser-Möst, as well as some highlight concerts with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Mariss Jansons on DVD/Bluray. The titles recorded with the BRSO include Antonín Dvořák’s Stabat Mater, his Symphony No. 9 and Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.

As a result of the close collaboration Clasart Classic maintains with The Cleveland Orchestra and its principal conductor Franz Welser-Möst as well as with Mariss Jansons and his Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, those recordings are released under the newly founded label of the same name, Clasart Classic.

Under the baton of Franz Welser-Möst, the internationally renowned Cleveland Orchestra presents Johannes Brahms’ oeuvre in its full spectrum: Next to the four Symphonies, the violin concerto with Julia Fischer and the two piano concertos starring acclaimed pianist Yefim Bronfman, the orchestra recorded also gems like Brahms’ Academic Festival Overture, the Tragic Overture and the Haydn-Variations. As befits its enormous presence on both sides of the Atlantic, The Cleveland Orchestra recorded the Brahms cycle not only at Severance Hall, but also on guest tours to London’s Royal Albert Hall and to the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna.

At the Lucerne Festival 2015, Antonín Dvořák’s most celebrated choral work, the Stabat Mater, was recorded with Mariss Jansons and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Choir. The soloists are Erina Wall, Mihoko Fujimura, Christian Elsner and Liang Li. Also under the baton of Mariss Jansons, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra presents two musical highlights of the second half of the 19th century: Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 “From the New World” and Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, orchestrated by Maurice Ravel.
